I've interacted with fishing addict a few times through PMs and I've always wondered how old he was. He definitely comes across as very young. I am a foster parent and have worked with teenagers for a couple of decades now and I am always thrilled when I see a young person who is interested in interacting with the "old bulls" to see if he can gain some wisdom and learn how to do things by drawing on the experience of others rather than by constantly screwing stuff up all by himself.
Does the kid ask a few questions that 5 minutes on google could answer? Sure he does, but I love this kid for two reasons:
First, he isn't afraid to ask. Most young guys these days think they know everything and wouldn't ask an adult anything. He has a hunger to learn which in my books is admirable.
Second, in a generation of young people who are addicted to television, the internet and video games and must be entertained 24/7, this is a young man who would clearly rather be in the great outdoors away from all of that crap. And he's hooked on a way of life that can sometimes be down-right boring. This is a kid who is willing to sit in crappy weather, on a frozen lake, in -30, when nothings biting all day long.
I say good on you kid. Ask away....
