I believe the province wide limit for whitefish used to be 10, I'm not sure what it is currently. Would have to look that up since I don't fish them. '

Technically you could, but you can't have more than 5 whites with you on Sylvan and you can't have more than 3 whites with you at gull. There is no way to prove that you got them from another lake so in reality you can only really get your limit at one lake unless you drop the others off at home in between to be safe.

Your safest bet is to just call Fish and Wildlife if you have a question about regulation specifics such as this. Claiming someone said it was so on the alberta outdoorsmen forum isn't going to convince a wildlife officer.

I think there is another thread lower down that says 'maybe' or 'yes'. My own personal opinion is not to be over your possession on either lake and be in the position of trying to explain yourself. Take the 3 fish home first then go to Sylvan. Don't exceed your possession which would be 10.

Better yet call F&W and do exactly what they say. Most of what you will get here is opinion (sort of what I just did).

please read the provincial regulations!

If the limit for the lake states 5, and thats all you get! not 3 + 5 = 8 !

Please people, take some responsibilty, if you want to do this activity please have a clue on the regulations and not guess or rely on other people to tell you.

Sure is a bunch of lazy people these days that can't bother reading the Reg's on something as simple as possesion limits, every person is given a regulation book and can easily access it on the web with a couple clicks of a mouse.

Go to gull, get your 3, go home and put them in the freezer, then go to sylvan.

How am i wrong? you can't go to Gull and limit out then proceed to sylvan and take another 5 then go home. That puts your posession of 8 white fish on sylvan lake. Over your limit by 3 fish, you can legally posses 10 at home, but not at lake that has a limit of 5! Unless i missed the part of him going home before going to sylvan?

Please correct me if im wrong then.

Yes, please read the regs yourself. Your allowed to keep 10 at home, so therefore you could get 3 from gull, and 5 from pigeon, as long as you do not have any more than 2 at home. The problem lies in the fact that you don't really have a way to prove which lake you caught the limits at if you hit both in the same trip. The only way to really be able to do this would be to go to one lake, get your limit, go home drop off your catch, and then go to the other and catch your limit there as has been said before...

You can do that, it's just you'll have a hard time proving that you caught those fish at another lake. Maybe if you took pictures or something before hand

The kicker is that you cannot do it in one trip without going home to unload your first 3 fish, then you can continue to roll to sylvan and catch another 5.

I thought we beat this to death a few threads ago?

you prove where you caught them by proper packaging. Right in the regs it shows you how to properly package a fish.

And this is why people don't share there spots and why there aren't bigger and better fishing experiences in this province give your head a shake go get 3 or 5 and go home and eat them then when you want fish again go get more don't hoard as many as you can i mean hell while your at it hit 2 more lakes and take 20 fish home then wait a year or so dig them out of the freezer realize they are all freezer burnt chuck them in the dump and refill your freezer
