Taxing the higher salaries in Alberta supports equalization across Canada, but the royalties from oil and gas stay in the province -- and those royalties have been squandered on undeserving public service workers over decades.

40% of the provincial budget goes to health care, and doctors make twice as much here as in BC or Saskatchewan -- but health care outcomes are not twice as good.

Ottawa is screwing Alberta, but Alberta is also screwing Alberta.

Alberta doesn't need a sales tax -- it needs a head tax on carpetbaggers. Stat.

Article missed the fact that the reserves drilled in Alberta are by and large far smaller than those in Norway. Our economics are far different.

If you are going to pull something out of your butt at least make it believable.

Whatever. The squandering applies to all government workers with defined-benefit pensions (etc.). Doctors in Alberta make 35% more than the national average.

20% of the provincial health care budget, health care being 40% of the total provincial budget, is just for doctor pay.

That's 8%.

Just for doctors.

Hence, no wealth fund.

Complete nonsense.

We've been bleeding physicians to BC since the Kenny government tore up the physician contract - their wages are definitely on par. Saskatchewan has been keeping up as well despite a smaller scale economy.

LOL, resource royalties are part of a national plan. A portion of them are sent to Ottawa.
Some of it is put into the Alberta Heritage fund
the rest put towards Gov Ab revenues.

My friends who are Drs that moved to BC over the past few years are learning the harsh reality of business in BC. It costs more to live there.

As for our Drs being paid more in Ab. it depends on how one looks at the overall compensation process.
If you don't look at the business model then you fail to understand the "higher" wages of Ab over BC Drs.
Cost verses expenses can be interesting.

One thing is the same across the Country, We are short on Healthcare professionals.

Actually its Dem Americans that have been putting the srews to Alberta to keep their gas prices low. Our Western Select at upto $20 lower price sets their final pump price and our Grand Children will now have No Inheritence.

Once again BS. Alberta Dr's do not make 35% more than the nation average. Maybe post where you are getting your info from .
