Default Brown bear with handgun

If anyone is interested the video is on YouTube now of the brother and sister who killed the brown bear with a handgun after a rifle malfunction. Search - stuckintherut on YouTube and you’ll find it. I found it interesting

What a bunch of morons
Why would you take those shots?
Such poor poor shot choices
This is the problem when your main concern is getting content for your YouTube channel or whatever bs your trying to do
That bear is the size of a sheet of plywood
Even in that blowing wind it wouldn’t be that hard
If…… the bear was standing up broad side
Not laying down in his hole
That bear is going to come out and come down!
Why why why why take those crappy shots?

Remember. Your house is glass.

Regardless of whether I agree or not with this approach. A couple of the comments here are insane.

I was amazed they shot a holed up/denned bear, then proceeded to share the video........ After trying to holler 400 yds uphill in that wind. Tried to watch the whole video but "Young & Restless" came to mind.

I really don’t understand why you hate them so much.

And I don’t have an opinion either way. There is lots I don’t agree with them on. Don’t like long range hunting. Don’t like their choices in rifles. Not a huge fan of their video production and the list goes on. But that doesn’t make them morons and you Saint Christopher.

Would you honestly take those shots on that bear?
The only reason why you ever possibly would, is because your filming a show and the batteries were going to die
Those are totally irresponsible shots
Do you think they need a pat on the back for this? Not a chance

Dude. Where in the WORLD did I say that I would take those shots on a bear. At the end of the video THEY address that and say they screwed up.

Yes would never take those shots but then again wouldnt take a rushed
shot at a moving animal with a camp gun either, but some do.
Dont need to try and kill something that bad no matter how big.

Having never hunted a brown bear I’m definitely no expert. If the bear hadn’t been laying in the snow and would have been standing broadside the shot shouldn’t have been that hard with a 338 Rum. Having said that it was a very poor decision to take a shot like that at that distance.

One of the reason I get choked with this kinda stuff and theses videos is it causes a portion of people out there watching to view these actions as expectable.

There is enough hunters out there that in my opinion have questionable ethics and I would rather not see anymore of them

I was taught to respect the animals I hunt and have pride in how I go about the hunt itself. I did not see any of that in this video

Making a solid effort to do things right and things going wrong is completely different than what took place in that video

Agreed. In the description of their video it says they are "Avid public land hunters" very amateur and poor timing and placed shots. I'd hate to see their other hunts.

Edit: This is exactly what that post in the Hunting section about Rinella's brother saying social media is ruining hunting.

X2...

Nothing ethical about that scenario. I don't give a damn how she tries to defend it. In fact, she makes it sound like a life saving story...BS...pretty sad.

And I will also agree with what Marky has to say. He's been around the world hunting big game a few times, and has experience. Thanx!...

“We’re trying to teach people” no you’re not. Just looking for attention.

Mistakes like this cluster can and do happen but they should stay in the woods and off the Internet.

Interesting video.

Without a doubt the choice to shoot at the bedded bear was a mistake.

I didn't watch far enough to know if there is an explanation for the rifle(shooter?) malfunction.
The rifle is a M700 Remington, but I also didn't catch caliber info.

Not a fan of the .454Casull either but that's not important.

So putting all the above aside, this video is exactly why the ability to carry a big bore handgun should be there for all hunters.
