The area we hunted last fall for elk and moose had trees that were near 200 years old. The outfitters were everywhere as they know old growth forest is prime hunting area in Alberta.
PS The Willmore and Grand cache are overrun with most grizzly in Alberta, bears are not stupid!

All the areas that burned patchy or the edges are probably doing better now than they will in 100 years. After 9 years there is going to be some decent growth for the faster growing tree and shrub species. Transitions in age class of forest and mixed growth is better than just mature forest.

Just like a burn alone is not the best thing for ungulates neither is nothing but mature forest. Mixed age class of forest and variety of plants/trees is ideal

Everything in moderation too much of anything is a bad thing and a lack of something is also a negative.
