Good game, dominated every aspect but the score again.....but really, McJesus had a short handed break, stonewalled. 2 minute 5 on 3....nothing. Mathews wasn't even there to make it more interesting. McElhinney sure stopped everything, pretty good for a back up goalie, well earned shut out on the Mighty Oil.....

At this point taking one for the teams just seems like masochism....or something.

How full is that fancy new stadium these days?
I really have no idea what so ever what the problem is with that team .
But I would guess the head guys will get the next axe.

Great job! Does that make them a good team or get them in the playoffs? Or is that the standard for success now, beating the Flames makes the season a success? Better hope they don't get into that odd pattern or you won't even have that.

Every time we beat a team it helps us get into the playoffs, that is just simple math.

Unfortunately our standard for success this year will be beating the Flames because by the looks of it we may be fighting them for 1 of the wild card spots.

I'm curious to what you've seen, besides a 1 game win streak, that makes you think the 28 place team is going to jump 6 other teams, some of which are quite good, and fight for a playoff position?

In at least 8 of their loses the Oilers have outplayed and out shot their opponents by sometime a very wide margin (10+). The 2 areas that were lacking significantly was goal production and goal tending/defense. McDavid just moved into 3rd place for points and is now ahead of your precious Gaudreau. And finally getting secondary scoring and Nuge is having a career year thus far in points. Goal tending is looking better even though we are running with our back up and the team played very good defense the last 3 games. In all honesty losing to the Leafs was a result of a goaltender standing on his head. The Oilers won every other aspect of the game against the Leafs, so yeah there is hope.

Notice I didn't say win the conference, I said they will be fighting the Flames (and probably 3 or 4 other teams) for a wild card spot. I not ready to cheer for a draft pick just yet

There was one aspect of the game with the Leafs they didn't win....the actual game. But hey, I'm almost convinced they're a Cup contender again! If you could convince those other teams to just stop beating them....

Yeah, this team has been blowing my mind. How do you put up 7 against Mike Smith, barely get 1 by Brian Elliot (on a back-to-back), then pot 5 on Carey Price, then get shut-out by Toronto’s back-up, then put up 7 on Bobrovsky?!

Hockey is one weird sport.

They have 28 points in 31 games. Well below .500. Taking a three game snapshot is funny, when they haven't strung three wins together in a row this year. Barely managed a couple of back to back wins, and usually a win is followed by a loss. But I'm sure if they do beat the Preds, the Oilers are going to look like a .750 team for sure....
