Default Buddy heater hose issue

I’ve been running my Big Buddy heater off a 20lb tank for several years now with a factory 4-6 foot hose ( can’t remember exact length) along with the filter. This year I needed to replace my propane tank as it was expired. Upon attempting to hook up the hose to the new tank, I discovered that the hose fitting ( male end ) will bottom out before any threads engage into tank valve fitting? Not sure if this is the case with all new propane tanks or “ just my luck”?! Fortunately I had another 10 foot hose ( Woods brand, I believe) that has a female end for the tank fitting. It was almost a cold day of icefishing. Just a heads up guys.

Mine fit fine yesterday. I had more issues trying to get it to thread on to the filter on the other end. The Buddy Heater hose is a sad piece of kit really. It is stiff as a board in cold weather (I know this was a change in materials due to issues with earlier hoses, but ugh). And the little plastic "key" they give you to tighten the male fitting you're referring to onto the propane tank breaks right away in cold weather. I always carry a couple of one pound bottles in case that hose is being cranky. Sometimes you just need to run it one a one pounder for a bit before it'll run off the bigger tank as well.

Tip is go and get one made at one of the propane shops. Also get one that does not get stiff in the cold. Costs more but is a lot easier to wrap and unwrap out in the cold.

Those hoses are crap at - 41 they get brittle enough to break. Green Line Arctic hoses are made for these temps Expensive tho
