Default Biggest Pike in Central Alberta lakes

Just curious what some of the biggest pike people have seen come out of lakes around Central Alberta (around Red Deer). I'd be curious about Buffalo, Gull, Sylvan, Pine, Coal, Pigeon, Buck and whatever other lakes in the area that have had big pike.

Default Big Jakes

Gull, Sylvan and Battle have big jakes for sure but the biggest ones I was told by divers are in Twin by Winfield.

I've pulled up 3 10-12 pound pike all 35-38" out of gull and have witnessed many others of similar size. Last year a guy beside us pulled up a 15 pound 39.5 inch pike and I know of 2, 20 pound fish caught in gull. Seems theres always a few really big ones got in sylvan each year as well.

Can't wait to hit up Gull for the gathering in Feb. After today I have to add wabamun to the list of "big pike" lakes pulled a 17lber from there just a few hours ago

With only C&R at Wabamun, it (IMHO) has the biggest pikes. You can catch tons in there now as no pressure is letting these guys get real big real fast. In 10 hours of fishing this summer, we pulled in over 40 pike with 3 in the 10-15lb range. 38lb - that is big - would love to see a pic as that is close to Alberta record.

Wow, 38 pounds. Can we please see a pic of this monster? Tell me you have a pic of it. I saw one in that range in Wab but it was shot with a bow in the warm waters around the outlet in the winter many years ago.

i spent my summers growing up on a cabin at wabamun, there are true monsters there, my best is a 24 pder on an 8wt fly rod ! that was fun ! The last few yrs there have been crazy, lots of big fish caught every year, not hard to find a 10-15 if you put in some time ! Next best bet is gull, always a few slobs caught there every year !

I would say the best lake around is snipe....iv caught dozens of 18-22pounders there and iv seen a few 30+. I think the biggest pulled out is in the high 30's. F&W did a big study there acouple years ago they had alot of 25+ pounders being pulled in, i think that lake just grows everything big though, people who fish it know....but remember...the lake isnt real.

I would have some serious thoughts of keeping a 38lb pike even though it's illegal from wabamun. But I wouldn't!! I would take some pics, and geet a replica made up. I'm surely hoping thats what you did! And sorry Red I'll believe it when i see it. till then...... I call BS

I pulled a big one out of gull years back, roughly 18-19 lbs. If I wanted to catch a 30+, I'd be fishing either Sylvan or Wabamun.

caught this pig on 6 pound test, the battle took well over 30min and we had to chase her in the boat twice. I will never fish with any line more then 10 pound test now, unless im at a fly-in lake

I love fish stories

Claims of a new provincial record and a 62'' that would shatter that.
