Default Black Bear Hide

Looking for the best way to store bear hide in the field until I can get it home and into the freezer. Don't want to salt. Thanks

I would salt it. If you cant get it to a freezer the issue your facing is the skinned side rotting...the salt dries and cures it out

You either have to freeze it or salt it. Keep the salt on it until you freeze it, deliver it to your taxidermist, or start fleshing it yourself.

If you're going to salt it make sure you have removed all the fat and flesh from the hide. Otherwise this will make for a tougher job for your taxidermist.
