9 inches of ice on McG. Landed 17 Whites(released all but 2) and one Ling today. They are biting, just really really soft. Finished the day with this scrappy 21 inch stud....on my new rod from Flys ect

Always saw a lot of whites on this lake on camera, getting them to bite is tricky though. Water is swarming with food for them there. But I did get lucky couple times.

I had the most hits on a tiny yellow and white jig head tipped with a meal worm ( look closely in the pic above you can see it) but caught a few on brass wire worms and one on a Swedish pimple. Slow presentation is the name of the game. I'll post some pics later.

If the wind doesn't get to crazy I'll be out there tomorrow (Monday) looking for perch around the canal inlet.

Here you go....

Lures on the right with my Med Light rod 6# line to bring them in then I switch up to the micros on the left with my ultra light rod w/4# line to seal the deal. The only thing missing is a green Swedish pimple...it's on my other rod I lent out this morning.

Thanks Evil!

Haven't fished the hard water there forever... never had any luck with whites. Do they normally bite all winter?

Ice varies from 9-13" south of the boat launch so unless you have a quad or small car, I wouldn't risk any larger vehicle.

Was the ice clean. Any dirt or sand from all the wind getting stuck to the ice. Nothing will dull a blade quicker.

Was out today and the ice is so clear.....

Was on the north side on the rocks and based on previous ice depth...It is only 9" today.....No one driving on including myself with a Dodge Van

Fishing in about 7 feet....

pulled a 20" pike out....Had a Burb sitting in the sand for awhile and could not entice him..and about 4 whitefish come through...

Had a 30" pike come by my smelt and left shortly after....

Was the water clarity by the rocks pretty bad like it was south of the boat launch? I could only see about 4-6 feet down. Seems to get murkier every year.

Was at McG today and the water clarity was awesome. I wasn't right at the boat launch, but I could easily see my lure hit bottom in 10-12 FOW.
