Default Guided Elk Hunt

I am looking into a guided horse back elk hunt in Alberta. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced Outfitter, and what hoops do I need to jump to get a tag? I have just started checking this out. All info would be gold! Plan on going in 2009.

If you are a non resident, and book a hunt with an Alberta outfitter, you simply buy the non resident license with no drawing required.

If you want a nice high success hunt, go to BC.....prices are a bit higher, but from what I've seen the success is also usually much higher.

If you're interested in an outfit, toss me a PM and I'll put you on to a good guy....

Hey BeerSlayer,

I know that the Anchor D outfiters are great people and will take you in on a mountain hunt with horses and wagon. Lot's of fun and great bulls up in the country that they are hunting. It is a family run business and Dewie Mathews is a first class guy.

Another name to look up is a guy named Mark Parsons who lives west of Nanton. He guided a guy a few years back to a 390" bull and is also a great guy.

Pete runs a good camp from what I hear and he is right in the middle of some of the most spectacular elk country in the world...the Willmore Wilderness.

Default elk hunt

here is a great outfitter out of BC. I have guided for him and the previous outfitter for 25 years now. most of the bulls we take are 290 - 330 with a few in the 350 range...nothing against any Alberta outfitter, but if i had a friend that wanted to shoot a mature 6 point elk i would send him to BC....

I am only asking because I would have nothing to do with any outfitter that was in any way associated with Lloyd Mcmahon. For anyone that hasn't heard,Lloyd Mcmahon has been convicted of several game violations as well as criminal offenses, for things he did while outfitting.

Yes they are brothers. I don't know Lloyd but Pete is an exceptional down to earth fellow and would give the shirt off his back to help someone out. His hunts in the willmore are top notch , world class.
