Default Rifle shoots high

Hi I have a problem with my pedersoli 45-70 sharps rifle!
It has soule type mid range sight and at 100 yards its shoots 12" high!
I have it as low as I can get it? What am I doing wrong?
I've already wasted to much ammo trying to sight it in!!

Lower rear sight/ higher front sight might help you.

Get a riser block for your front sight and that will fix things up.

There are higher front sights available from Lyman. Inserts come with them. Best bet is to order them straight from Lyman.

With the Aperture good and loose adjust the rear sight to the bottom of the travel. Check the rear sight to ensure it is completely bottoming in the rail. If it isn't re-thread the adjuster so it travels all the way down. Also, ensure there is no riser installed under the rear sight mounts and that the base is mounted the correct way round.

Next, are you sure you have the front insert right side up, there is a difference in how high it is by how it is inserted. Also, Pedersoli sells a base that goes in the dovetail and the hood sight fits into it, that will raise the tunnel sight up enough to compensate if you can't get a tall enough front.

On thing you may find with the Soule sight is repeatability is lacking and they tend to move windage from recoil.
