Well done. I suspect that there will be a lot of interest in trades, acquisitions, resigning, etc in the offseason. Signing Kane would be nice but can the Oilers afford him. I saw Holland on the news tonight stating that finding a number 1 goalie wasnít likely so it sounds like Skinner will be a regular next year. Smith....who knows? He wants to resign Kulak as well.

In my opinion Holland is not only a smart hockey guy but he knows how to manage the Edmonton Oilers fan base as well. Guaranteed the old fox has a lot more options then he lets on but unlike so many Oilers GMs in the past heís not going to make a move just to appease the fan base.
I think he goes by the philosophy under promise and over deliver. Look at what heís done in his short time here after inheriting a gigantic mess from Chiarelli.
When he came over people were saying his downside was he sells the future to win now and thatís why Detroit was where it was. He may have done that in Detroit I donít know, but he seems very cautious about jeopardizing the future with rentals and calculated in Edmonton.

Time will tell but going by results it looks to be about the best GM the Oilers have had since cigar man Sather. Just the fact he didnít run to give everyone a raise like the Oilers did last time they went this far is a big bonus lol. Horcoff scoring ten goals a year making more then most in the top six in the NHL just wasnít sustainable lol.

"I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to play with such a committed, hardworking and loyal group of men," Kane wrote. "The Edmonton Oilers are a first class organization with such great staff from top to bottom and I thank them for giving me the opportunity to play for such a historic franchise. To the fans of Edmonton I thank you for treating my family and I with such kindness and respect."

Sounds like a decision has been made and Kane isn't coming back. Unless it's typical to tweet out thanks to the fans, teamates, and management when you're just gonna see them all in a few months...

The Oilers received the No. 32 pick in return. Arizona drafted Maveric Lamoureux at No. 29, while Edmonton selected Reid Schaefer at No. 32.

Kassian, 31, signed a four-year, $12.8 million contract extension with the Oilers on Jan. 29, 2020. He has two years remaining on his contract.

Kassian recorded six goals and 13 assists in 58 games played for the Oilers in 2021-22. In seven seasons spent with the Oilers, Kassian posted 55 goals and 80 assists in 412 games played.

The Oilers (49-27-6) finished second in the Pacific Division. Edmonton lost in the Western Conference Final to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche.

Great pick. Didnt think he'd be there at 29 let alone 32.

Liked Kassian a lot but cap space is important in this new NHL.

I like this deal a lot.

There was virtually no difference between the 29th and 32th pick options.

So really they got rid of Kassian for a 3rd in 2024 and a 2nd in 2025; I thought it was going to take more than that to move 3.25 for the next 2 years.

And if he wins his case against San Jose for the extra 1.88 million what happens then? This league is a joke at at times.
Great to have him back if it ends up not being voided

Coleman for 4.9 mil AAV or Kane for 5.12 mil shows just how good this deal is. I brought that up kinda just for kicks

Sweet deal, I love the way he plays the game now if he can just keep his nose clean for those 4 years.

That was some pretty good work by Holland. I guess Kane liked it here. On the straight and narrow, Evander.

The Kane deal will prove to be one of the best contracts in the NHL over the next 4 years. I'm stoked. That's a huge piece of business done, he's a key piece of the puzzle.

Now for the goalie, I want Keumper, but I'd settle for Campbell, because I think Skinner will prove to be a very capable backup, and I'm leery of the dollars and term that Keumper is going to command. Campbell will be a long overdue upgrade over Smith and Kosk.

I sure wish they could have got Kulak to sign on the dotted line, I liked his game.

They need to get the Yamo (needs to be team friendly) and McLeod (pay the kid, he's going to be a stud) contracts finalized, and then figure out what to do with JP. I'm good either way really, he has value, so I don't want him gone for nothing, it has to be a good deal, but at the same time, his total lack of finish, poor hockey IQ, and weird sense of entitlement make him expendable in my mind.

Still need some D men, hopefully with some size and grit. I think Broberg makes the jump this year, Niemelainin is a maybe, he checks some boxes, but that isn't without risk for both of them, there will be growing pains. I'm kind of in the same place with Barrie as I am with JP, I don't mind him, so I'm not in a hurry to give him away, but if there's a deal to be done to add pieces and/or shed some salary, I'd definitely do it.

Last on the list is a couple 3rd and 4th liners. I'm penciling Holloway in for opening day, and maybe one more spot for our AHL guys, so that only leaves a couple spots. Veteran guys are always critical when you're in the win now window, so we'll see what Holland and co can do.

I sure wish Gaudreau would have signed in Calgary at $10.5M/per for 8 years, that would have been sweet. One can only hope they panic and give Tkachuk the same type of massive overpay of an offer...

Hopefully Kane loses the arb filing or settles out of court. If he wins, the signing is void.

We need a top backup goalie. Who will that be?

The kicker will still be defence. We canít keep letting teams pepper our guys with shots. It rarely ends well.

Sure is a lot of talk about the other Kane a possibility in Edmonton. Hypothetical scenarios. Yeah, I guess you look at it if he's willing to come here. Depends what the cost is.

If that happened, they'd have one of the most potent offenses assembled in the NHL in the last several decades IMO.
