Question Cold Lake Ice conditions

Going up to Cold Lake this upcoming weekend for the last time on Hard water. My son and I have been skunked everytime there and we hope that this will be the time. Can anyone advise as to the ice conditions and is there anywhere else to walk onto the lake besides the PP. We have heard before something about a ski hill and wondering if this is a good access point and if so, how do you get to it. Once again your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I just got back from Cold and would not recomend the shi hill at all. There is alot of snow and travels are difficult unless you stick to the packed trails. Go out from the provincial park and follow the trail to the border. You will probably see a bunch of trucks there. That was the best spot we could get to. We could not get to our honey hole due the the snow on the ice. There is still a good 2 1/2 feet of ice. If it gets soft on the weekend I can see it getting very ugly out there. Use caution.
