do I think they are a contender? nope. Do I think they are playoff capable? absolutely. If you look at their record for the second half of the season last year, and put that to the whole season you would have had them second in the league. With deadweights like kotalik gone, Langkow gone for stempniak, and a very strong blueline there is definetly a good chance to make the playoffs. But, they could go in a funk and finish outside. anyones guess really. The flames IMO will finish anywhere from 10th-6th in the west. IMO the oilers will be a bit better but will finish no higher than 10th in the west.

Im a huge flamesfan, but with the team they have this yet, notta. Going to be a frustrating year, everyone will be looking for what will be done next year when half the team contracts are up, lots of money to spend, but not allot of talent will be up for free agency. Unless he makes a big play for a C and get rid of some dead wait that will be the story. They do have the chance to make playoffs, but a first round exit again will just be too painful

They were two different teams last year. They were brutal until Sutter got fired, then they seemed unbeatable. Not sure who the real Flames are. I think they're good enough to make the playoffs but no cup without big #28 on the blueline, terrible trade.

If it looks like another season of missing the playoffs, Iggy will be gone by the trade deadline.
