Default Fishing Kitimat & Prince Rupert from Shore

Heading to Kitimat and Prince Rupert at the start of July for a week of fishing. I have been a few times and always hammer the salmon, have even chartered a boat a couple of times for halibut and rock fish.
This year I plan to try something different.
I plan to try shore fishing the saltwater for fun. Curious to see what I can catch throwing bucktail jigs, crankbaits and other lures from shore. Might even bring some shrimp or herring for the young lad to use.
Going to be looking for some rocky points or drop offs with kelp and see what happens.
I love catching all the different species available in the salt.

Anyone ever tried this before in this area? If so how did you do?

The only thing I ever caught from the docks are bullheads and crab. Lots of crab.

Don't know about that area but in the 80's & 90's when my Grandfather was still around we would fish the gravel beaches and creek/river mouths from Nanaimo to Parksville for sea-run cutthroats.

Though they have that ridiculous ban on killing dollies in the freshwater, the area you're talking, one should be able to eat a few FRESH!!! dollies. Yummy! You better get Junior to throw some roe out there.

Ken, I think he's talking Skeena estuary, I've wondered about it myself, just fear I'm going to put time in there and waste it in the short time I spend out there annually.
