There should be a few bowhunters on AO that have telescoping limb loppers.
They can extent 15 -20 feet. Lop the top of the tree that the crow is connected to from your roof. Then give the bird water if it is exhausted before trying to set it free. I doubt it would eat while stressed. If you really want you could add a very little bit of beef or chicken broth to the water.

If you get the crow down teach it to talk. The crow is going to remember you.

If you cannot retrieve the bird, it is a good time to explain the 'wonders' of nature to the young kids around. Nature's ways can be stark and wonderous but cruel.

Due to condo regs, we cannot cut any trees or trim them here, not without getting in big crap from the condo keepers. They are pretty anal here.

I thought about the limb saw deal, still might be a stretch to reach it from the roof

You might have to call CBC news. Just in time for 6 oclock news.

They have telescoping buckets on some trucks.

Better go have a shave and put on a clean shirt. Your fifteen minutes of fame is about to be spent on a crow.

You will have to nickname the crow " Viral".

"As the Crow turns." Or maybe, "All My Crows." How about, "The Young and the Crowless."

Where is JR when you need him.

But I have to agree, I couldn't let it suffer. Someone with a bucket truck, maybe the cable company or the power company has a bird lover on staff who wouldn't mind helping.

I believe F&W have provisions for hiring such equipment for wildlife rescue.
I'd talk to them first.

I like Keg's names for the saga.

Your wife should have put the bird is a rare black amazon parrot in the ad.
Would have been a quicker response.

Nature is probably getting even with the crow for all the fledgings he killed in his life.

Smile A Game of Crows...

And here I thought I was a softie!!
Have you tried contacting a local wildlife rehabilitation group? They may be able to help or suggest someone.

Hope this has a flappy ending!!! Good on you for your efforts, bug!!!

Well its on the radio and we had a guy almost make it to the top of the tree. Hes going to go see if his boss will let him use a manlift lol. This is one famous crow, and to think I normally hate these buggers but in the end nothing should suffer

Call bylaw enforcement or fish and wildlife. When they come out you could always say "You know, I have pellet gun..." see what they say. Up to them then.

Easiest way to get some sort of action :Call the local media out. "Poor bird caught in tree" will get immediate action.

A good way to keep crows out of an area is to hang a dead one in a tree.

...problem solved.

Watching it suffer does suck though.

Poor critter.

Now all that's left to do is set up a sidewalk memorial like they did for that raccoon in Toronto...

They probably would have had to import a crow advisor from Saskatoon

In the end it was quite impressive as alot of community members randomly heard the radio add and showed up to help. CAT rentals send a truck to haul on of there manlifts for free. They got the crow down but we were half hour to late.

It was some thick string tied around the crows foot, it looked like it had been on there for quite a while and it was tangled on the tree branch.

In the end this showed how a community can come together for something so little.

Now there was a good idea. Should have left it there for other crows to see and your neighborhood would have been crow free for the season.

Just cut the tree down. Sell it for firewood and the crow will die faster. Pretty simple.

I'd just use a pellet gun at night time.
