Default 248 Moose down!!

So after 7 years of trying for a moose with my bow I finally connected on tuesday night. We had been out near Athabasca since friday night and between two of us we didnt see or hear any moose for 3 days. Only saw 2 white tails, it was a slow few days.

So I got home, unpacked and showered and it was only 3pm. So i grabbed all my gear again and headed out to my spot. I walked around for about an hour and a half stopping and calling periodiclly to see if anything would come in. Nothing was happening. So I started to head back to the truck and was going to take the long way through the trees. 5 minutes after I had decided that, I found a scrape that was about 6 feet in diameter, with the center dug down 4 or 5 inches. I found a big stick and started thrashing and grunting. A minute or two later I hear a bull comming from where I had just walked through the bush. So what seemed like and hour but was probably only 30 seconds I spot him, he starts walking to my right, I look for an opening in the trees for a shooting lane, draw my bow and he walks right into the my lane and i let and arow go, it was about a 15 yard shot. He runs 30 yards towards the truck, which was awsome, and falls. It was the best hunting day of my life.

I was out by my self so I had to go back to my truck, call my hunting partner's to come help me get him the 1km back to my truck.5 hours later he was loaded and headed for the buthcer.

Here he is!

Well done. That'll provide some good eating all winter and lots of memories for a lot longer than that.

I was shooting a Bowtech Flatliner with a 65 pound draw. the arrow went through the chest cavity and stopped just when the broadhead got to the other side of the inside of the rib cage. It didnt hit any ribs or bones and I was 15 yards away. I had a brand new rage 3 blade. I hit the back of both the lungs and in total he ran probably 70 yards. But from the arrow hitting to him down was 30 to 45 seconds, and I was able to watch him that whole time.

Thanks everyone, it was an unbeliveable day. Went back out this morning and got skunked. O well thats hunting.
