Question Ice Cleats / Grips to Help While Wading

I was curious if any one out there has used studded grips or ice cleats on their rubber soled wading boots to improve their grip?

I have a pair of Cabelas branded waders with the boots built in and was thinking of trying to find a pair of ice cleats to put over them to improve traction.

I was hoping to find someone who has had success to suggest a brand or style that functioned well. Or even the styles to avoid would be a help.

There are countless styles so I guess the best thing is to simply go out and test test test, but having somewhere to start would be appreciated.

Yup. Simms studs and cleats work well, but my next set will be a pair of bike tire studs from MEC, Wayyyyy cheaper!!

If the sole is thick enough your could screw in some studs.

Go to marks, I always see ones that you can slip over your boot, they're a flexible rubber with metal stud soles. Probably cost $20

Kold Kutter screws. A big bag will last forever and they are used for motorcycle ice racing so are crazy grippy. That's what I screw into my ice fishing boots so I don't see why they wouldn't work for wading boots if they have thick enough soles.

I use really short screws and they stay in pretty well. Even if I lose some there are so many in the bag that it's going to last me my lifetime.

I use the Kold Kutters as well for my wading boots, and I feel they work very well. I got a bag of 250 of the 3/8" ones, shipping all in for less than $25 on eBay. Not sure if you can get them locally, as I never made the effort to look.

Default Try Princess Auto

For years we have been using their slip on ice cleats. Cheap usually you can get them at $5 on sale, and I think regular price is $10. Should get a year out of them.
