Default Elk Creek fish, is it a brown?

So I headed out to Elk creek area today, west of Rocky. Heard a few good things about the spot so i thought i would give it a try. Now one of the fish i caught i believe to be a brown (never caught one before so i would be happy if it was). Cant post a picture right now but, it has black spots with halos around them on the top of the back and dorsal, orange spots with halos in the middle, and brown with halos closest to the belly. But no spots on the tail. From what i understood is that browns had spots on the tail. (maybe its too young?) Anyways ill post a picture over the next few days, meanwhile maybe some of you can help me indentify it without you seeing a picture!
