Default Bow rack for mountain bike

I have land access to shoot my bow 10 km out of town. Its a well maintained gravel road and am considering biking there and back on nice days. I have a full F&R suspension bike and wondering if anyone has experience with rear mount or handle bar mount units on the market?

Which would you prefer?

And, do you find even though your site screws are fast, you have to sight in again and again?

Cogburn Outdoors is a bike company that specializes in gear for backcountry hunters & fishermen. I've seen their bikes with sweet bow set ups on them in the past.

Carried over my neck and shoulder for years with a Primos bow sling and never had to worry about sights moving. Plus my body acts as a natural shock absorber to alleviate any vibrations going directly to the bow.

Bow rides on my back completely out of the way of bicycle controls and stable enough to *almost* do some down hilling.... My hunting partners laugh at the way I cook along on down hills....

Thanks. I checked these out. Will pass on the sling type. Sent email to see how the Cogburn would attach to a full suspension. Their bikes are fixed 1 pc frames.

This thread reminds me of the time I was bow hunting on a mountain bike.
I was on the way to my spot in 936....came around a corner on a down hill trail...flying...startled and got stuck in between a cow moose and her calf...

No scent control technology could conceal my reaction to that situation.

It was one of those deals where 10 seconds felt like 10 minutes...thought she was gonna run me right over.

Back on topic....I had my bow bungee corded to my back pack, lol.

Now I have a primos sling, but haven't been on the bike in 3 years.
I could see the Primos sling working just fine.

Why don't you look into a KolpinŽ Rhino Grip Pro. I got one for my quad. They are made to fit on the bars of a quad rack. They really hold the bow good on the quad. It would work like a charm on the handle bars.

Always something I have in the back of my mind when I cycle in there! Glad it turned out okay for you.

Primos sling is what I use, although the Cogburn and Kolpin options are intriguing...

Really like the Kolpin - just emailed them to see if they have a clamping system for mountain bikes.

Thanks

I just put a set of older style kolpin on my front bars. It's going to need some testing and reviewing. Vibration is my biggest concern, Second there is not a lot of clearance between the bars and bow. It's works but I don't have the kinks worked out probably going to take me a season.

Ive often thought of trying to find one myself.
I have always just had my bow in my back pack (archery pack made to carry a bow). And some times would loosely put a sweater or jacket around it for a little more cushion if on a bumpy trail.

Never had a problem with bow sight being off. Don't think I will ever try to mount it to my bike I feel it works fine on my back.

Default Bowkaddy

If you're planning to attend the Boat and Sportsman Show next month in Edmonton, I'll be there if you want to see the product in person. I posted a video just recently to my YouTube channel regarding the Rambo Hunting Bikes. Actually the video related to pics posted by Stinky Buffalo is also on there. BTW, Thanks, Stinky!

The original Bow Kover shown in the pics offers only marginal protection, but I have since come out with a full-enclosure soft cover which would be recommended in this situation.
