anytime ive had to install a ductless split , I just deal with Sinclair supply or ecco supply. Mitsubishi makes a nice one. As for it being a DIY? I would say no. but that depends on what you do for a living. you will need to work in your panel to add the breaker and run the electrical for the condenser , you will need to braze the refrigeration lines with silver solder and pull a vacuum on the line requiring a vacuum pump and gauges . hanging the units will be the easiest part .

I'll second the Mitsubishi, likely the best on the market, but very far from the cheapest. Any HVAC wholesaler will have them, WWG, Sinclair, RSL, Ecco, Emco, Lennox, etc, but not all will sell to the general public, and also don't expect wholesale pricing.

As far as a DIY project, I would actually say yes, if you are very mechanically inclined, and follow the instructions and manual very closely. However, there is specialty equipment needed for a proper install, such as refrigeration gauges as well as a vacuum pump, nitrogen tank and regulator, as well as a flaring kit for your linesets. The cost of this equipment will very likely exceed anything you might save by doing your own install

Read some bad reviews on the Mr Slim, and the "smart" technology
I just want this to go blow cold or warm air , not sence where someone is in the room and blows at them etc,
Anyone know of a good online store to pick one up?
Or anywhere to buy? All the places want to sell me a unit and hook it up etc.
Well after having drywallers in for mudding and taping quotes , with the increase in crime I'm adding video to the alarm system and making it so it's a lot harder to brake in. Kicking bars on the garage I boarded up the windows in there etc, so now only services aloud in my house are friends or people I know.
