Interesting way to use your firewood blocks.
Pretty neat project. One tree could make quite a few.

Super cool! I can't believe some of those people's comments though good lord! All the eco warrior snowflakes that seem to think plastic production is a better choice for the environment than using wood.

I think reading just a small amount of the comments section there makes a case for a sterilization program. Is stupidity contagious? I'm curious if any of the people commenting against the project have ever walked through a forest never mind driven through one for hours on and at 110 km/h?
I like the hue that the shade created.

That was a great video.....lots of work and skill.
Getting that log rolling.....that's a lot of momentum and force if things go wrong.......I like to seem any of those negative comment pansies try it.....or even do some work like lift a log.
And What The X, are these idiots doing on a site like that.....trolling??....looking for things to complain about. The bad thing about the US election is that these rats have scattered from the political forums to all over, looking for an issue to push their agenda on.

I was quite curious as I thought 'yep, wood should shade a lightbulb alright' but wow, that's most impressive. I know there are those that think it should be shaved and stapled/stitched, but that is one continuous circle of wood. Nice workmanship.

The comments make me wonder if people are oblivious to where products come from or the what it takes to make things by hand..... sure makes us at AO look sane and grounded

Pretty sweet looking final product but that video could have also been called "The making of a pile of shavings" lol.

I've made bowls out of aspen that you could see ambient light through the whole way around with a lot less sophisticated tools than he's using. Just takes a delicate hand.
On a log that size, I'd have used a center saver to make a few more things out of it. It was kind of cool though... By the shavings coming off, I'd bet the log was fairly freshly cut...
And to all those idiots, it could have been a tree knocked over in a storm.
