Default Sturgeon Virgin

Lost my Virginity this morning. Stopped by the river with a co-worker after nightshift and landed this beauty! I've been trying to catch a Sturgeon for several years, with no reward. I gotta tell you the wait was well worth it! 46.5 inches long and 17.5 inch girth. It was by far the most satisfying fish I've ever caught to date. The first of many to come!

That is awesome! I'm a sturgeon virgin myself, one of two species left. What kind of setup does a guy use for sturgeon and do you cast out to the middle?

Barbless octupus hook with a florocarbon leader, tied directly to braided line. Snap swivel to a pyramid weight. KISS

Very nicely done. I am always skunked when I go to the NSR. I am hoping that will change this year when I get to go again.

Does anyone have a picture of a sturgeon rig? What would a guy use for bait?
