I would start on the Fraser River....

as for bait, lots of information on the net. We used worms on the Ottawa.

Head down to Vancouver and contact STS Guiding Service. http://www.guidebc.com/ I have gone out many times and caught some nice sturgeon. But nothing like that monster. The best time to go is late August or September. The runoff in the Frazer is huge and so you don't want to go early in spring. Wait until the salmon start running. The sturgeon go crazy for chum roe.

Good luck with your quest for adventure.

Rob

There are some down south too: in the SSR system.

Get a hold of Fred custom tackle in Vedder crossing. They are top notch. The fishing is a blast!

Both the north and south saskewan rivers have sturgeon. Caught 7 last year between the old man and SSR, biggest was 50inches. Nothing huge but lots of fun to catch!

If you want a big one go to Chillywhack and book an outfitter. It is often referred to as "Rasslin' with Dinosaurs". One of the neastest fish you will ever see. Everyone should doit at least once in theri life.

I have fished our western waters extensively and have pretty much caught what there is to catch. From big ars Chinook to Halibut to Steelhead, Rainbow, Big ars Pike you name it... Pound for pound Sturgeon are the strongest fighter there is bar none.. These Fish do not know the word give up... You want a battle,, hook onto a 20# sturg on medium tackle running 20# line,, your set for about an hr,,frickin awesome fish..

Default sturgeon

SSR. Went on a guided trip about 4 years ago with an outfit from the Hat.
I hauled in a 35 #er and we caught several others in the same size range.
The other boat did about the same, their biggest being about 70 #er, 6' + in length. We also caught walleye, biggest 10 #ER, goldeye and one sauger. On the water about 7:00 and gone till around 4:30. Had a great day! I think it was $160 each for 3 guys on the boat. Well worth it that particular day!

If you are interested, P.M. me and I will try to get info. on what the company name and phone is.
