Default Anyone see CH-47s over Calgary?

There were three of them. Pretty awesome sight and sound! Not sure which country they belong to. Ghost grey. Nice and clean. What a treat!

Think Canada bought about 7 of them from the US at a crazy price

RCAF Tactical Aviation resources (CH-146/CH-147) are painted green and black, not grey.

US Army CH-47 are grey.

The three I saw were flying in a south east direction over the shop here in GP. I doubt they were headed to Alaska based on that. But I am wrong a lot.

The ones I saw were taking a turn from their westerly heading to a southerly one heading towards Calgary. Seeing the three of them banked in their turn was neat. Two were in fairly close formation, the third having some additional separation.

For a big girl 47s can sure move! Fastest helicopter the US Army has! I’ve spent a few good
Hour inside one waiting to get dropped off places or brought home!

Probably sent up here to keep tabs on the dangerous Canadian pot smokers.

Just saw the trio again heading west. Was heading north on deerfoot and they were heading west. I kinda figured they were not Canadian. My first guess was American due to the colour. Very cool.

Dang no. We are being invaded. Someone telegraph Ottawa to get our fleet of Cessna's into the air. Send in the Piper Cubs to boot.

Seems a little strong, no? Perhaps Chrystia can tweet out something to the effect that our Canadian values preclude an unseemly response to the affront....

I live in deep Castledowns (127 & Henday) and see lots of heli-chopters and Hercules (although haven't seen a Herc in quite a few years now) Use to see Herc's almost on a weekly basis.

Allways have to stop and watch, very cool

When I was working at Devon Energy we would get the occasional sonic boom from the Cold Lake guys, first time I experienced it I though something in the plant exploded. Just awesome those fighter jets

Get with the times man...……...the C-130 Hercules Sqns moved from Namao to Winnipeg in 1994 (Chretien meddling) and the runways, while still there, are unuseable. The only airforce component left in Namao is 408 THS flying Ch-146 Griffons from the YED heliport

Marines used the 46, I wasn’t aware they used the 47 as they have the 53s for the heavy lift role. If it was a 46 they stopped using them in active service 3 years ago.

Heard them in Calgary couple of days ago, couldn't see them due to cloud cover but they sounded too mean to be Canadian.
