Default Costco Ice Fishing Equipment Quality: Any Good???

Hey guys. I am gonna be picking up some gear and saw Costco's stuff. I try and buy whatever I can there because of their return policy. Have any of you tried their augers or tents. This is what I am thinking of ordering...

I don't need the best, but I don't want crap either.

The auger appears to be manufactured by Rapala, who has their augers manufactured by one of the bigger ice fishing companies, I believe. The auger should be fine.

The tent looks very similar to the Rapala six man, but it doesn't specify that it's manufactured by Rapala, as the auger states. That's a little cheap for a six man tent, but I imagine it'd hold up decently if you take care of your stuff and aren't out 3 times a week.

Canadian Tire often has huge blowouts on name brand stuff, try looking there as well.

The fish in is okay but after a year and a half of use the graphite rods blew apart.

I had the fish inn 2 man like that my 1st season in Central AB (usually fished without down south).

It was OK but the black interior coating flaked really bad right off the hop. It also developed a tear by one of the bottom corner hubs where the pole connects.

I am pretty easy on my gear and I've had the same Eskimo flip (Wide 1 Inferno) for 3 seasons now and it looks like new!

Cheers,

Scott.

I have the tent and I'm really happy with it. its easy to set up just like any other tent. And you can't beat costco warranty, they stand behind their stuff.
can't speak for the auger I'm still rocking a manual one. but if i ever upgrade i will get it at costco.

Same happened to me last season but with a 2 year old tent. Packed it up and returned to Costco for a new tent. They exchanged it without question

use both the 6x6 and 6x12 depending on who is with me. dont need the black anyways, it doesnt last long but I dont find it makes much difference, I usually fish fairly deep anyways and use my camera, too excitable for sight fishing had the big one blown flat in a storm, no broken poles just a couple ripped anchor tabs. one broken window so far, had one of the first ones and all the windows were crap, broken on opening, they went heavier and also lengthened the skirts too. I use mine more in one season than most in a lifetime so Im happy with them.

It's from Costco...... That's all you need to know. You can test it out this fishing season and if you don't like it you can bring it back.

I also bought the 6x6 orange one. I noticed the Black inside started to chip a bit. Happy with the rest of the quality, zippers and windows, very easy tent to fold up and store.

I bought my fish inn 4man used for $80 3 years ago, it's probably seen 150-200 days on the water and it's still working.

both windows are cracked and I had to fix one of the hubs (fabric ripped off, pinched it back on with a big washer).

zippers still work fine, none of the poles are broken or cracked, I plan on using it at least til the end of this season. Best $80 I ever spent!

bottom line is I would buy another costco tent.
