I try to buy Lapua brass whenever possible, if I can’t get Lapua I buy Nosler. My only experience with Hornady brass is for my 7LRM. I buy the gunweks head stamped brass but I think it’s made by Hornady. It’s soft crap and the primer pockets are toast after 4 firings with light loads. The only brass worse that I have found is Federal 270wsm brass that has loose primer pockets even when new

Here is some hornady brass from factory loads.

I won't be buying hornady brass for reloading.

I have some Hornady brass I’ve reloded 4-5 times now, no issues. I’ve heard people say it’s soft but today I pretty much buy what I can find when I need it.

It's a crack. I was breaking in a new rifle and that was the 17th round fired. It was louder than the rest and about an inch off from the rest of the group. I sent the picture to hornady, they never responded.

Only experience is with the 6.5 Creedmoor....it has been fine. Even with hotter loads I am onto the 3rd and 4th firings and it is holding up great. Accuracy has been stellar with it.

I haven’t bought actual brass myself I just kept all the brass from shooting Hornady and Winchester ammo over the years before I started reloading. Between the two I can tell Hornady is better than Winchester out of my coyote rifle and Winchester brass seems a lot softer then my Hornady brass.

Same here. Especially brass, it’s junk. Have worked with it many different times over the years, now it all goes in the garbage.

My experience is less than stellar. Much less than stellar. It's at the very bottom of my barrel.

I have not found Nosler brass to be soft.

I have found brass in general to appear soft when run where it shouldn’t be.

It's been some of the better brass I've owned/used (.223 and .204 R). Maybe it's because they're varmint calibers, not sure...but I have some .223 on at least it's 4-5th loading...and still going strong.

The worst new brass I've used (.223, .204R, .243 Win) has to be Winchester. I'd have to throw away 2-3 per 100 after inspecting it all, then usually find some with issues after FL re-sizing. Around here, it's often the only brass I can find though.

I don't load anything "hot", or out of spec...so I have a hunch that contributes to brass life. For me, it's loose primer pockets that are usually the deciding factor on when the brass is done, not cracks/stress.

There is a difference between factory hornady brass and cartons of unprimed hornady brass. I'm at the 12 through to 15th firing on several cartons of 45-70 and I've only lost one or two pieces due to cracks at the case mouth. Anealed at five and tenth firing. I also use hornady brass in my 25-06 rifles and I will be trimming after the 4th firing without any loss.

Factory hornady ammo - I have had case ruptures from .308 winchester and 25-06 ammo. None of it was superperformance. Each time was just a slightly discordant sound, slightly louder. No damage to the rifles (.308 Hawkeye and 25-06 tikka).

My experience with new hornady brass has been good. Pockets are uniform, case lengths are exact and case mouths are quite perfectly round. I won't, however, be saving any hornady factory brass any time soon (except for 30-30 and 45-70 ftx brass if I happen to buy factory loads).

I am generally a big fan of Hornady products, especially their bullets. Their brass however is crap. I don't know who makes it for them but it is inconsistent, often over soft, cracks and splits easy and doesn't have well formed faces or primer pockets. It and Federal are my two least favourite brass and I try never to use them.
I have started using a lot more Lapua because it is excellent brass and now runs about the same price as WW.

Order of preference based on quality versus price
Lapua best quality - high price
Privi - good quality low price
Norma good quality but VERY high price
S&B
Starline
WW
Remington

Most Military brass is very good stuff.

Too bad Lapua doesn’t make .300WM brass. Haven’t been overly pleased with Nosler brass and now rethinking Hornady

I had issues with Hornady 9.3x62 Brass. Rather than setting up new production with the proper 9.3x62 Mauser cartridge specs, they decided it was good enough. and cheaper, to simply re-stamp their 30-06 brass.
I'm sure other 9.3 users have experienced that intentional blunder as well.
Hornady now have a 9.3x62 American version. .. all their very own.

Haven't used a lot of Hornady brass, the stuff for my 450-400NE seemed ok, always shot low pressure loads with it. I do remember the flash hole punchouts were in a good number of the cases, not detached. I had a tough time getting the reamer tip into a few of those holes. I have some for the 300H&H, haven't worked with it yet.
RWS for my 30R is probably the best brass I've worked with, there is a difference in that stuff. Only brass I have had much in the way of any issue with is FC and Norma, some of that may have been me hot rodding it a bit though.
