Default Big Cold Lake Lake Trout Redemption

Well, my day started off with a bang with a fish on before I was even set up again. Then as I was marking lots of fish and couldn't get a bite I went out to check my I fish pro and my bait was gone due to hole freeze over... I re-baited and was dropping it down when it felt like something picked it up and it just kept going and going never finding bottom I knew a fish had grabbed it. Well, this fish managed to get wrapped up in my line in the shack and get off it was absolutely heartbreaking as it had all the signs of a big fish. I made the decision to stick it out on the spot for the remainder of the day in the slight chance that i. may get a second shot at this fish. Well a few hours before dark I had another flag up and the fight was on! This was a warrior of a fish as it had a treble that it had broken off someone else still hanging out of its mouth....

Check it out for yourself

I'm guessing that was the line from his other Rod that he was Tangled in he cut the line that he had the fish on

No 58, this one was caught from a lake over on the Ontario/Manitoba border.

No, a spur of the moment August evening troll. 15 year old young lady I was guiding, her grandfather stayed in camp that evening. Terrific long battle and luckily she was calm with the rod because her guide had foolishly not checked that boat for a net before heading out. Getting that fish over the gunwale was the real trick but managed, measured, photographed and released.
Same young lady put a 47 1/2" pike in my boat the summer before. She has grown from an indifferent 13 year old from a divorced home into a very pleasant and extremely proficient angler. Her and her grandfather are my two favorite clients.

Hey Weavster, curious what rod you were using in this video, (need big eylets) to prevent ice build up and good solid power still, will be hitting 40 to 45 inch Lakers through the ice so need reliable strength yet sensitive for them light biters. Would you recommend it?
