Default Damn Snow Geese

Well, were about to head to Outlook, sask tomorrow for snow goose hunt. Looking pretty grim as the birds seem to have moved past there. Just trying to determine if its still worth it to drive 6-7 hours for a handful of birds. I know this is never predictable, and have been looking forward to this all year, but....

If they have moved past my suggestion would be to cancel or go somewhere where they are right now...no sense travelling all that way if there’s no birds to hunt...

Snows have been moving through quickly this year. We can thank the rather quick northward retreat of the snowline through the prairie / parkland.

A lot of one and done feeds,,, that is stop for a quick bite, a drink, a nap maybe and then bye bye!!!

Still early for them to leave for the arctic, so they may stack up along the forest / agricultural fringe for a few days.

This does make me optimistic, thank you.

Well, have a yearly audit this week, time already booked and non-refundable, we're going east!

We were out last weekend and we literally drove the same Dias tan ever as driving to vancouver from Calgary. Didn’t see many at all and only managed to drop 3.

Any chance you can go farther North?

I have buddies who hunt in SK late every spring and they crush them, but it's a long way north of Outlook.

Even with the poor hatch, the reports they're getting from farmers have been decent so far.

Well, were here. Saw three good size flocks just before Alberta border, other than that, quiet as hell. Hoping for the best, beats working!

Find pea stubble. Further east between Winyard & Buchanan, SK. We used to get 200+ acres of white gleaners every spring. They don't stick around much more than a week...

Crappy start, two flocks. One didn't even look, second one had a couple come down, not close enough to hit though.
