Default Sighting in problems

My wife bought a 7mm08 in a weatherby vanguard I put a 7.5 leupold scope on it . Was sighting it in today and it was two inch’s to the left of target a 50 yards and I ran out of scope adjustment. The bases ring and scope were mounted at a gun shop and it was bore sighted . Question is where do I go from here ? What would be my options ?

Take everything apart and put it back together... It's possible you have misaligned base screws or possibly the bases/ rings are not installed correctly. I have all manor of incorrect scope install done by store employees. Next step is boresight using mechanical zero on your scope at 25 yrs and go from there.

I second taking everything apart and starting new. it's not too difficult to put it together. if the components are of decent quality, it could be a case of a store employee not paying attention. if you can borrow a torgue screw driver that reads in INCH pounds you would be doing well. I wouldnt hesitate to pull rings and bases off.

What type of bases are on the rifle? Are they Leupold type bases with windage screws on the rear?

It is surprising just how many people don't figure this out.

Just a general comment about bases for the Vanguard.

One issue when buying bases for the Weatherby is that some manufacturers recommend using the same base as for a Rem 700. The screw holes match, which is why I assume they make the recommendation.

The rear base on the Weatherby needs to be taller than the rear base on the Rem 700. My scope almost ran out of vertical and I solved the issue with an offset insert in Burris Sig Zee rings.

I later went with Talley lightweights made specifically for the Vanguard. They are made with correct mounting heights.

Two piece bases with the correct heights for the Vanguard do exist. If the manufacturer suggest the same base for the Rem and the Vanguard, keep looking.

This gets discussed fairly often on Weatherby forums.

Thanks for all the reply’s the bases came with the gun the back one is about 1/16 of an inch higher , my guess just by looking at it .I took the gun over to my friend Chuck and he took it all apart and he found the bolt going through the bottom of the scorpion tac one rings is defective goes in on a angle a and cants one of the rings . So I’m going to get new rings and try again
Thanks Robert

The only screws on the bases mount it to the gun no Windage screws

A manufacturing defect to be certain. Easy fix which is always good. :-)
