Talking Kootenay lake bound!

Maybe the "kootenay lake" experts and or expats can chime in on what and how to use the lures, plugs and flies for this time of year.

Looking forward to your responses!

WAY back when, we used Bill Normans to catch 'em....I was fortunate enough to land a 26 lb.'er.

When your finished with the massive trout in Kootenay, You should hit up Duck Lake for some great Bass fishing.
It is definitely worth the hike down the sketchy hill.

A couple things that work well in cooler water;

Rip a big fly along the surface if the water is a little choppy along a 4mph and 120'-150' back. I sometimes put in a small inline sinker (1 oz mooching) sometimes let it skip.

The Apex, Lymans run nicely run these 10' down off the rigger (60' back) at 2.4mph - 3.5mph.

Silver, Black/Purple, rainbow are my favorite colors.

Bow's will be quite shallow.

Cool

Wind , fish the lee side of the points . Use electronics to mark pods of fish. then work pods work each pod 30-40 min . Move on repeat . Hair 2.8 -4.5 . Bulls will be hard to keep off at 30-50 ft on green plugs . 1.8-2.5 for bulls and work creek mouths.

Grab me a coffee when you get to the other side in Balfour - nice little place right beside the gift and gill on the landing. Great pastries too.

I am jealous and living vicariously through you ....... keep the posts and pics coming.

Randy at the gift and gill will give you outstanding advice and he might even tie you up a few things to try ......

Yes Randy is a great guy. He intercepts info from one fish man and passes it on to the next.
