Default 1995 omc 130hp - Need help

Calling all engine guys!!

Fired up the OMC for the first time, for me anyways. Fired right up and was running on the muffs. There was obvious suction of water (muffs heavily leaking out the muff seal when not running but noticeably less when running). I didn't ever see any water coming out of the tattle tale. Had engine running four about 4x 10-15 seconds and never any water coming out. Do I have a problem?

Depending on if you have a thermostat? If it has a thermostat and it is working it should open up after warming up and water will flow. Other wise your water pump is shot, and need to rebuild it.

Yeah likely because of the thermostat. You can either try running it for a bit to see if water starts coming out after the engine warms up or take out the thermostat and then water should come out even when cold. If it doesn't then like mentioned you need a water pump.

Default Plugged

Try using a wire to unclog any debris in the telltale line, or remove it to check for water flow.
Try this before you start replacing parts.

The engine should be peeing water out of the tell tale hose as soon as it fires up basically. As stated above check to make sure it is not plugged.

If it is not plugged, suspect the impellar.

Same thing happens to my boat on the drive way (125 inboard) . I know on my boat the leg must have an extra pump to pump the water up to the inboard engine water pump ,because they get air locked ,as in the owners manual, it says unit must be in gear .

Hopfully this helps.
