Default 2016 Bison

Hello guys/gals. We put in a lot of time and diesel for this bison. We had a lot of advise and help, very much appreciated. A draw recipient, 2 helpers, and 1 new hunter and 1500kms later a bison down.

Thanks All,

For those wanting details;
It took two full days to find fresh sign in a fresh 3" of snow after bombing around 1200kms worth of bush road and highway. Without that snow, I'm not sure we would have had the same outcome. The main herd had split into 2 groups, so we focused on the small group. We put them to bed in what we thought was about a 3km radius. We were right, bumped them out of their beds at legal light but couldn't get a well placed shot. Circled around them, sat and waited on a good stretch of road, and 45mins later they appeared 350yrds out. Patiently we waited for a shot, which seems like forever at windy -20. At 275yrds we got our shot and 3 hours of work began.

Well all I can say, and I've kept saying since we became successful, good luck to everyone else who put in for this draw and awesome experience in the future, we've scratched this off our bucket list, and won't be putting in for the draw again. Experience of a lifetime

Yes, every part of the bison was loaded up and is coming home with us, minus the entrails.

The pic says a thousand words, proud father and son. My friend and hunting partner, broke his leg a month before our trip, but we made it work. Awsome

Tough hunt they're not as easy as we thought it would be. I tried chasing them in the woods for almost a km and they did not stop they were headed northeast so I came back to the truck and we cut them off on another road We split up so they couldn't get around us and they got the shot. Had it skinned and quartered in just over an hour And back to the trailer in just over 3 hours Hell of a hunt glad we got her on the warm day Driving home now it's minus 31

Guess you got lucky, see the weather has turned the usual brutal up there.

Congratulations. It also took us a day and half to find a bison. Fresh tracks were a must for us as well

Cool! Is there a wild bison population somewhere in Alberta?

What caliber did you take him with?
