Default 2016 bear season in our new BC peace country area

Well that's a wrap folks. Last group of black bear hunters had to cancel so we're done. Seen a total of 70 or so black bears and 8 grizzly in 14 days. Bob H. went home with a beautiful blond bear that was just under 6 foot and a slammer black that squared out right at 7 feet with a 19 3/4" skull and multiple missing teeth. Unfortunately both boar grizzly we put the stalk on gave us the slip, including an 8 foot plus jet black boar we've nicknamed "Black Bart".
Guides and Houndsmen Brian and Claudette Chorney got it done for their two hunters Jason A. and Calvin B. from the Boneyard. The hounds did great in this new area and we're looking forward to many more years of chasing big boars with the dogs. Both hunters took mature boars in the 6'4" range, with Calvin's bear making the P&Y book !
Thanks everybody for their hard work and getting this new area going. Next year should be even better.
Hope you folks enjoy the pictures.

Wow great pics, love the bear doing all the work by getting into the truck. My first year looking for bear and all I have seen is elk, deer and a ton of wild horses.

So the story behind the sow in the truck that wanted to come for a ride with us.

She was feeding on the road with two grown Cubs that she promptly sent up a spruce tree. Then she walks back to the truck posturing for a fight, so I start talking to her like a dog and she calms right down. Circled the truck a couple times then climbs in the back. I'm guessing she smelled the blood from a couple of carcasses I hauled away for wolf bait and figured she'd come in for a better look. I stood on my running boards talking to her and taking pictures while she walked around in the box of my truck.
The Hunter I was guiding thought I was nuts at first, then he was convinced I was some sort of bear whisperer ! lol
I doubt he'll ever forget that hunt

Fantastic!
Nothing like watching a striker fly off the truck hood!

Congrats! The sow in the truck box is pretty sweet. We've ran them up trees a few times and had a few try to climb into stands but never had one in the truck! Lol

Awesome!
