Default Lac St Anne Ice Fishing

Heading out to Lac St Anne with the brother in law this weekend.Being a relative newbie to the hard water thing any advice on what species I should be after and with what gear? Can't have buddy skunking me at ice fishing too!
Also do we need to be concerned with ice thickness as we'll be taking the truck onto the lake?Replies appreciated.

I went to the Rock Island during the brass monkey weather and had a pretty good day on the walleye. Just the usual, chartreuse jig tipped with a medium minnow.
