Yeah seen that same whiteness in the eyes of a burbot from gull and i figure its just from someone having it out of the water too long and the eyes started to freeze over, they also look like cataracts.

i caught one like that too
since burbot can live up yo 20 years im pretty sure its old age
since they don't use their eyes as much as their sense of smell and feel. i think its cateracts too

Lots of fish live older then that such as pike, trout, sturgeon and they dont loose color over the years.
