If your looking for a good all-around bow, I like the Z7 Extreme by Mathews. You get decent speed, smooth draw, and with a generous brace height. $750 bare bow is the going price I think.

I've been looking at the Bowtech Insanity, might be a little out of your price range though...... Check it out!

this might get more feedback in the archery forum...
my best advice is to shoot as many different bows as you can get your hands on and buy what feels right to you. I settled on a Mathews but not before I shot at least 8 other brands in similar price/speed bracket...

my $0.02, I guess $0.04 if you include the first comment

If I was going to get a new bow, it would be the Athens Afflixtion, but I'm very pleased with my athens accomplice 34.

Hoyt CRX 35.

I shot a Matthew Z7 and the CRX 35. The Hoyt is smoother and more forgiving. I do like Matthew's though. Still have a Drenalin as my #2 bow.

The only thing I didn't like about the Hoyt is the rubber grip. I pulled it off and put on wood side grips. Personal preference thing...

Take a look at the quest torrent. I shot this bow the other day and I know I'll be picking one up next month. 599 for the complete package at cabelas

Get one that fits you and it doesn't have to be expensive. It just blows my mine when I see people with $1200 plus bow and they can't shoot sh*ts and on the other hand I see people with a $200 bow that hits the 40 yards bulls eye consistently.

They are all exceptional bows, really can't go wrong.

I love the utility of the APA's...
The Carbon Hoyts are dreamy...
Bowtech/Diamond's are smooth and well balanced...
Matthew's are also smooth and sultry
PSE's rugged and reliable...

And the list goes on and on and on.

I really wish there were an easy answer, but its all in the eye of the beholder, you just got get your hands on em and see what you don't want to let go of.

Having said that, of all the bows I've handled, I still can't be enticed away from my Diamond Black Ice... Shame they don't make em anymore
