Default Post-Flood Highwood River Report

Earlier this week my friend and I went down to the Highwood River between Longview and the Hogg Park campground. This is usually the best time of the year to fish this stretch of river but the river is still running high and chocolate-milk brown. We tried casting to undercuts and hugging the banks but didn't catch anything (didn't stay long either). The river is quite different and flood-debris is way up the banks. Hoping to check again in a couple weeks.

That's weird. I drove over it at Longview at about 3:330 yesterday and it looked pretty good. Do you think someone could have been doing some work in the river below Longview?

I fish this strech of river quite lots and eariler in the season (mid july) it was actually running quite clear. Went out there two weekends ago and had the same result as you did. It seems to be dropping though so hopefully there will be good fishing to come.

Check out the flow rates from enviorment alberta they have great info

Coming up Highway 2 this eve,, both the Highwood and the Sheep look teasingly perfect,, the Highwood had that nice pool colour to it while the Sheep had that nice bluish silt colour to it.
