Default ACA and fish stocking

Just read the ACA's annual operating plan. It details the allocation of funds for the year from the group. They got 17.5 mil in the budget this year. Of that 17.5 mil only 350K is going to fish stocking! Correct me if I'm wrong, but are they not the only group that stocks fish in Alberta? Kind of a **** off when you see the kind of money this group is bringing in and not see your favorite game fish species being stocked at all.

I don't know if they are the only fish stockers or not. The ACA does a lot of other valuable work. If all the money for any proposed license increases went to the ACA (as opposed to general govt coffers) I'd be fine with it.

I do appreciate the work that they do. I use a lot of their sites during hunting season and get tons of enjoyment out of that; mainly their pheasant release sites. Just seems that the allocation to fish stocking is very low, especially considering that a large portion of my license cost goes to fund them.

If your looking for some night time reading. I just took a quick browse through it. Interesting on how many "programs" ACA is investing in.

I think the ACA stocks different lakes than the Government. The lists are different.

The ACA basically does some of the stocking for the Alberta Government.
The Government still decides what lakes are stocked , with what and how many fishes..
