I was last day lucky on a buck, submitted the head the following week. Got negative results on March. 15 but the email stated that the head was submitted on or about Jan. 25, 2022. Not sure if it stayed in the freezer till then or they couldn't read my handwriting or what.

results in
3 mulie does put in an overfull freezer behind Sportsmans Den in Red Deer Nov. 20. Didn't get transported to Edmonton till Dec. 20 ??
Results came in March 10 and 13.
Two negative and one positive.
Thats pretty close to four months- that critter was going to get freezer burned before the results came back and I could butcher and vac wrap it.

I’m still waiting, if the government isn’t going to do things in a timely manner we need to come up with ways of getting it done ourselves or through a private lab. This is bloody ridiculous

I just got my results yesterday, whitetail doe, positive, at this point it’s probably good it tested positive since a lot of it is probably freezer burned, it’s ridiculous that it takes 4 months to test an animal. Does anyone know of a different option for getting your animal tested? If the government is going to drag its feet like this I’d like a different option. Especially since a high percentage of deer in the eastern parts of the province test positive (4/8 deer from my group this year) we need to have a better way to test them if they want to still have hunters in that part of the province.

CWD Testing Timeline
Resurrecting and old threat here since I was so surprised and impressed with the turn around time as compared to last (2021) fall.
2021: head submitted to Cabelas YEG south Dec 2. Test results returned late March. Eastern zone mule deer.
2022: heads submitted to same as above Nov 13. Test results returned Nov 24. Eastern zone mule deer mature buck and doe.
It may be a case of mid November thru December they receive a ton of volume and cannot keep up, but I am very impressed with this year’s turn around time.
Thank you to those involved in running the tests. Keep up the good (and fast) work.

Totally agree. Was super surprised (pleasantly) to receive back CWD testing results within 2 weeks this year! Great turnaround time by all those involved in the process!

I dropped a head off October 30th. Negative results came back November 15th. The email I got seemed to suggest that they picked it up on November 4th. Two more heads submitted November 15th, still waiting on those.

I submitted a mule deer buck head this season, and received results within 2 weeks. Unfortunately, it was positive.

I submitted a Muley doe head Nov 2, negative result emailed 2 weeks later.
Only issue, I shot the deer with my bow on Sept 2. No freezers set out yet.
Maybe a few early season freezers would be nice.

I don’t think you are allowed to use it for dog food, when I had mine test positive they told me I couldn’t.

Dropped off two heads November 15th. Negative results for both yesterday December 12th. Looks like the heads sat in the freezer for 9 days before they picked them up. The emails say 'head submitted on or about November 24th.' One more head submitted yesterday. No doubt I'll be waiting till February or March.
