Default Old Batteries

The catalytic converter thread got me to thinking about the growing pile of old batteries in my garage.
Where do you take them? Some metal recyclers? Are they worth anything?

Depends where you live, but yes, they are worth something. Battery Doctor in Edmonton pays for used batterys. There are several places that do.

X2 for Battery Doctor in Edmonton.

I believe he pays $12 for car battery cores and $15 for RV batteries.

Default easy to recycle

Every town recycling/dump area has a place where you can just drop off old batteries - all gone for free!

I've taken them in to General Recycling in Edmonton. The price fluctuates a bit I think but a few years ago I was getting $10 or $15 per car battery. I had a bunch of large deep cycle batteries from golf carts that I got about $30 each for. Tractor and large truck batteries would likely be worth a bit more I guess.

A couple of years ago Peavey Mart advertised they were taking batteries so I took a bunch in. Think I got about $10 apiece for them.

If in Edmonton take to Interstate Battery. Best price I've seen and certainly better than General Steel.
