Default Hey how much would a carpenter charge these days for this.

Me and the boy just supplied, cut/built, installed a 6 tred pressure treated wood set of stairs for a deck.

Buddy is a landlord.

We hauled away excess and old stairs

6 hours from marshaling materials to finished product.

When I build stairs, I charge 40 dollars a tread and that’s up to 6’ wide, any wider I charge for each tread again. 20 bucks a foot for handrail, plus cost of materials.

Ps. The stairs I build are semi housed stringers so more work and material but crazy strong. So depending how you did tour stringer, you could varey your price from mine if you’d like.

Thanks

I charged him $210 for labor
That’s me and the boy working on it.

That’s pretty fair I guess

He paid materials

Plus a 26 of dark rum

Now on to more handyman gigs.

Poor sucks when money needed.

Nothing wrong with that bill, good job. If I wasn’t in camp I’d be doing a lot of side work this summer. I keep getting calls still, but my 5 year plan is on a different track right now. Good luck with future gigs, you can private message me for most costs of what I charge, it’s not over the top, but it’s cheaper then contractors and little extra cash in the pocket. Win win for everyone.

Down in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass

I’ve swung a hammer for 20+ years on and off. Worked for my uncle in residential contracting.
I’ve done framing
Finishing
Concrete work
Painting
Drywall-taping

Bobcat operator

Decks
Roofing
Windows
Doors
Plumbing
Tin bashing

Back when we couldn’t survive on just my one paycheck, I’d strap on my tools, walk into a site on days off...offer to work one full day at whatever they needed done.... then sit down with the boss and decide if I could be of use.

I used to ask for 200$ cash, end of the day, under the table. Scetchy stuff cause there’s no WCB.

I might take a garage build if I could find one, but my boy’s too small yet to handle rafters and wall installs.

I don't have anything I need done right now. For other members though, what is your general location?

I think it's great you are taking the boy along with you. I was always surprised how many green hands we would get on the rig who had never even used basic hand tools. Sounds like you are passing along some life skills.
