Smile spring

Sure nice seeing the longer days we are getting now. Surely green grass can't be too far away!

I saw 2 lonely geese standing in the middle of a frozen pond on my way to Calgary today.....kind of felt bad for them. They seemed to be thinking "I thought only gesus could do this?" (geese....gesus....get it? lol)

Default spring

I saw/heard them yesterday then instinctly looked up. Of course my immediate thought was "One of them is probably gonna crap on me"
But it was nice to see three big greys`. I couldn't help but let out a vocal honk "hello".
I don't think the garden will be going in anytime soon though.
GD snow, no chance of fire bans in Sherwood Park this spring.

I haven't seen any geese yet myself, though I can tell that the first signs of spring are here. I don't if it's just me though, I can smell this distinct fresh smell in the air when spring arrives.

I have also been noticing that the days have been getting alot longer and the sunlight intesity has been increasing.

Likely, if they were out standing on the ice on one of the ponds looking sheepish.......stuck out like sore thumbs.

It's a funny time of year just north of Edmonton...........halfway between winter and spring. There's still plenty of snow (1' - 2') to go sledding but the gophers are coming up and sitting on top of it. I haven't seen/heard any geese yet but someone that I talked to yesterday out at Lac Ste Anne said he had. Looking at the weather forecast next weekend will be the last one for sledding/ice fishing. IMO spring will come in a couple of weeks up this way.

The field behind my house has had the Gophers running around for a week now and a few Eagles picking them off. The Geese have been starting to fly in 2's now for the last week also lot's of flocks are showing up. I even heard some song birds ( type? ) yesterday.

From South Calgary.

Signs of Spring . . . great horned owls nesting for over 2 weeks now, gophers have been out, saw swans here in the south Thursday. Only sign of winter is the snowy owls that I saw also in the last 2 weeks.
