Default This is why there are no walleye in wabamun!

My scales unfortunately maxed out at 20lbs....but the measurement on the tailgate put her at 43.5-44"!

Then came her little brother at 11lbs.

All these whites decided to drop by so I figured out I might as well catch a few, largest was 2.5 lbs

Played with a few perch, caught 2 (not picture worthy)

And of course this log of a burb stopped by to say hi, but wasn't in the mood to play.

There were around 6 other pike from 4-8 lbs....again not picture worthy.

All in all a fantastic day started slow, but took off near the end!

Any guesses on the big girls weight?

Pics in a minute...technical difficulty.....

Cool !! I have been using small smelts, I will have to switch over. Last time I used herring, I almost barfed a few times while setting up! I would rather smell dead ass.

Default Nice fish

Here is a link to a list of fish weights by length. I know it is not 100% accurate but I have cross referend it many times and generally tends to be pretty close for those days you don't have a proper scale handy.

In between 22 and 24lb. I've caught a 22 befor, this one seemed a bit larger, but what ever it was a rush watching that thing cruise in from the abyss. Then swallow a 6" herring without hesitation whole...love that place!

Then at the end if the day, she swims away and everyone is happy.

Why not take a pic with the fish and the tape measure in the same frame...?

Simple. The tape measure was 85 km away in my garage. The tail gate was the quickest method of reference. Had to get the girl back in the water, so no time to mess around.

Looking forward to getting you and that new boat out there this spring, oh ya...thanks for jacking my first mate! Well at least Geezle is now well versed in. Beverage preparation and anchor retrieval. He will serve you well. Gonna have to look for another Gilligan....

Maybe I 'm not looking at it right but but your tape measure shows 6 bolt holes on your tail gait ,when the fish is on the tail gait I only see 4 bolts .
Your tape also shows every bar on the tail gait is 1 inch apart.
Your fish is covering 36 bars = 36 inches
Something does not add up .
I get it ! Its not the picture of the big one !

The pic police are out look out

Great fish Thorne. I guessed my 44 incher (caught on the fly) to be 20-25lbs......but its just a guess I had no scale and I released mine too.

The "6th" set of bolts are covered by snow and the tail. In any case count the groves in the tail gate, then count the groves on the tape pic, and see where it ends up. You can just make out the bottom bolt just short of the tail, regardless this clarification is just to answer your question. I wish I had someone there to help with a better pic, or what not, but this is all I had. Not trying to do anything else but share an awesome day with people who like to hear about them. I know I enjoy reading people's stories and seeing pics. Seeing how nice mustang and buck crazy did just made my day even better.
