Thats a good walleye anywhere , especially outta the river . I think they are getting to be post spawn walleye , and they are hungry , explains the rough shape they are with laying on bottom .

Ya I agree. I got one around the same size yesterday and a monster that broke 30 last thursday. My buddy got a goldeye today too. So I guess that who keeps stealing my minnows. lol

Goldeye useually steal worm , but they will take minnows to , probably walleye stealing your bait . Another solid day. I head out tommorow for 6 days headed down to southern alberta to smack some big post spawners .

I've fished hermitage a few times later in the summer and have NEVER had any luck. You guys fishing right where the path from the park meets the river bank?

How do you not get bored sittin there with a bobber or a pickerel rig? How do you keep excitement by baiting a hook and sitting there?

it is more fun using a jig and such but sometimes after and hour of trying that its nice to just chill for a little and toss a p-rig in, plus I'm not positive but from what I've heard sturgeon don't bite jigs! The nice thing about the p-rig is you can catch every fish in the river with them except for pike mayb. I know I know, everyone thinks you should TARGET a certain species every time you fish but personally sometimes I enjoy the surprise reeling in a fish that could be any one of the roughly 10 different species that will bite a p-rig!

And yes it is more fun! I think I just get bored because I'm use to stream and river fishing for trout, where u never use bait and a rig.

I've caught pike on p-rig before. The larger ones snap the hook line.
