Default some big eyes of 2012

Here is a few of the big eyes we have been catching lately.

Don't mind the old mans hair in the last one. It looks like he has a fowhawk but it was just the wind that day.

All pictures are of different fish caught in the last month or less.

I have another one of rapala76 which I have left off of here and will post if he is fine with it.

4 out of the 5 fish are 7+lbs and the other one is somewhere between 5-6lbs. None of the fish were actually weighed. We measured them on a weigh board and then did the conversions on the SAWT conversion chart that is given out at every tournament.

That is my drift sock. It helps slow my boat down when the wind is blowing hard.

Maybe sunday but not positive on that one yet.

If I am out on sunday it will be in a nitro sport fish and ski model. A coworker and his buddy are fishing the SAWT this year and have never fished travers so I will probably show them around a bit so they can get a few spots instead of going in blind.

Nice looking fish Nate. Looks like you picked up a 898 'bird from the looks of the first picture. How do you like it so far? Getting it figured out?

Nah that was my fishing partners boat at the chin tourney. He is running 2 big birds on his rig.

I am running a hds 8 on my dash and a small color lowrance sonar unit on the bow.

I will probably end up just sticking with my hds 8 until I upgrade my boat to something a bit bigger with a full windshield.

Good deal. How do you like the 'birds compared to the Lowrance after fishing with both? Find any major goods or bads for either one or they pretty even?

I like both units. I am not to sure which I would like more and the only way to find that out would be to give both a run at the same time.

Maybe that is what I should do is run my hds on the bow and eventually get a bird for the dash to check them both out.

I am fishing Travers out of my boat next weekend so I guess we will see what works better. Both hds and birds have gotten me into some decent fish this season so far.

Did you just call me fat John?

I know I have gained weight since being off of work and surgery but I didn't think it was that bad.

Go look at a map and the regs. and fish the southern lakes. There is that size of fish in pretty much all of the southern walleye lakes. It is just a matter of right time, right spot, right rig.

pretty typical eyes on average for the southern ponds. many lakes those fish are bait. Exploring is half the fun and most of the battle.

Oh ya the trip is happening this year. I am just waiting for mike to let me know when it works for him.

I will have my boat on Travers for the next 6 days for the tourney out there.
