Default Stock question

My dad has a remington 700 BDL in 7mm rem mag, the rifle is shot out so we are looking at some new take off barrels. I have talked him into going with either the 300 win mag, or 338. He wants the barrel to be a little heavier than the old one, like a 'Sendero" barrel. My question is, will the heavier barrel work in the factory BDL stock? Or will we have to upgrade to a mcmillan or bell and carlson?

With a dowel and sandpaper it will fit. The barrel channel would need to be opened some.

And you will likely end up floating the barrel, instead of using a pressure point as in the case of the original barrel.

New barrel and new bedding, it should be a tack driver.
