Thumbs up I Like Pike (Wabamun Mon 20 May 2013)

Went to Wabamun today with my dad. Great day of fishing, caught 21 pike and lost/missed 20+ more. Using floats and fishing at the big dock in town. Lots of fishermen but they were using lures and I guess right now bobbers work best for shore fishing. Overall our best day of fishing yet.

Wasn't at Wabamun but instead a nice little lake not to far away. Landed 10 including 4 keeper size(kept 2) and had many more strikes. Fish were supper hungry and loved my new buzzbait until both it and my titanium leader decided to detach from my line...

Hehe me and my gf came later and I asked how your luck was lol I was using a lure, only managed to catch 10 from 1pm till 4pm overall had a good time. Yesterday cought 18,

It's harder for a pike to catch a moving object then a floating minnow so your method should work quite well compared to what I was doing, I just find it boring since its a similar method to what I do when ice fishing, so I take advantage of lures and casting

Crosman I was using a slip bobber rig about 3 feet deep with smelt, herring and anchovies for bait, all were working well especially the herring.

This sometimes bring a higher catch ratio and that's using heavy mono or fluorocarbon leader (50-100 lbs) and putting on a 3/0 or 4/0 circle hook.

P.S. just incase you didn't know you don't set cricle hooks you just point your rod at the fish and reel hard to set the hook
