Default My WMU 406 Kanaskis Whitetail Buck

I spent the weekend with friends up in 326 and 328 and then on the way back super early yesterday morning I decided to hunt in K Country for the morning before Thanksgiving dinner. I parked in my favorite spot and hiked way back into the bush and as the sun came up a nice buck broke a twig and caught my attention as he was walking across the top of a ravine about 150 yards away from me. I went prone and leaned on a log and waited until I had a clear shot. The 30-06 did its job and brought him down. It was a ton of work to get him back to the truck but well worth it. I am happy to harvest such a nice deer close to home and I still have my mulie draw in 406 to focus on now. I know it is tacky to post just the head but that is all I have on my IPad. I am going to do a euro mount of him this week.

Good job Jacen. Sounds like some work on the retrieval...makes him taste better.

Congrats. I've never had much luck in 406, but I like hunting it because it's so beautiful and relatively close.
